How to Work with Images/Pictures Simple Resize/Crop

    Simple Resize/Crop Functions

    To resize/crop picture, you can use Pain program that comes with any version of Windows Operating System.

    Resizing Picture:

  • Right-Click on picture
  • From menu select Edit
  • In Paint program click Image menu -> Stretch/Skew
  • In Stretch section change percentage to what ever you desire (make sure you enter same % amount for both: width and height)
  • Click OK
  • From File menu select Save As..
  • Choose a location to save New, Resized picture (make sure you are not overwriting your original picture, because resized picture is lower quality, and you want to keep higher quality)
  • Type File Name somehow different from the original File Name
  • Choose File Type (See file types section)
  • Click [Save] button

    Cropping Picture:

  • Right-Click on picture
  • From menu select Edit
  • In Paint program use selection tool to select the area you want to keep
  • From Edit menu select Cut
  • From File menu select New
  • When it ask you if you want to save changes, click NO
  • From Edit menu select Paste
  • From File menu select Save As..
  • Choose a location to save New, Resized picture (make sure you are not overwriting your original picture, because resized picture is lower quality, and you want to keep higher quality)
  • Type File Name somehow different from the original File Name
  • Choose File Type: JPEG
  • Click [Save] button.

    you can also use paint brush, paint bucket, text and other tools in Pain program. For more advanced functions you have to get a more professional software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Painshop, etc.
